Falkland

A small but picturesque village a stone's throw from the cottage, Falkland offers traditional shops, restaurants and pubs and even a 13th century Royal Palace. Pillars of Hercules, an organic farm shop and cafe on the outskirts of Falkland, offers the opportunity of a pleasant country walk from the cottage with the added advantage of a delicious snack before starting on your return journey.

Perth

The historic City of Perth has been attracting visitors for over 800 years. Situated on the banks of the River Tay, Perth has a compact city centre and a picturesque, country setting. Across the river from Perth is Scone Palace, one of Scotlands most important historic stately homes.

Kinross

Ideal for hill walking, golf, cycling and fishing Kinross nestles around Loch Leven where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned in the 16th century. In Portmoak, on the shores of the Loch, the adventurous can try a spot of gliding, before relaxing in nearby Loch Leven's Larder farm cafe and gift shop.

Dundee

The home town of "Desperate Dan" and "Oor Wullie" welcomes Dundee's latest attraction in the shape of the new V&A museum, standing next to the RRS Discovery on the banks of the Tay.

Dundee is also home to many other attractions such as Contemporary Arts Centre, Science Centre, the Dundee Rep theatre and the Olympia Leisure Centre, plus many more places of interest.

Cycling & Walking

The Fife Cycle Route passes the front door of the cottage, leading to various destinations around the region. There are also ample walking routes in the immediate vicinity of the cottage and hill climbs for the more experienced.

Beaches

From the peace and tranquillity of Tentsmuir to the picturesque beaches of St Andrews and the East Neuk, Fife's coastline has much to explore. Stretching for 117 miles the Fife Coastal Path which runs from the Forth Estuary to the Tay Estuary, offers a range of walking experiences from easy to wild an demanding and can be enjoyed by both recreational and serious walkers.

Golfing

There are 45 Courses in Fife, with another 40 in neighbouring Perthshire, which together cater for players of all standard.

Other Activities

Dale Cottage is an ideal base for relaxing and gently exploring the countryside. However, for those with an appetite for adrenaline the Scottish Off-road Driving Centre is on a country estate on the outskirts of Strathmiglo and less than ten miles away is the Scottish Gliding Centre at Portmoak and the opportunity to go hot air ballooning from Ballado.
